Pierians Promoting the Arts (Flint, Michigan) Look behind the curtain of the local arts scene and you'll find a group of bustling women holding a few of the strings. The Flint Chapter of he Pierians, Incorporated is actively involved in promoting the study and enjoyment of art within the community. Pierian Frances Faithful (Flint, Michigan) Newly elected National President of The Pierians, Incorporated, Frances Faithful is a proud member of the Flint, Michigan chapter. She has spent a lifetime devoted to a love of the arts. She worked with her chapter in Flint to promote culture and the arts among underserved and minority children since the chapter was formed in 1990. Frances Faithful taught various classes and subjects in the Flint School District for 34 years before retiring in 1990. As a teacher, she helped Flint students become more aware of fine arts and has been a source of inspiration and motivation for young people in the Flint area. She is the daughter of Myrtle Tyler Faithful and niece of Viola Tyler Goings, two of the founders of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and spoke recently at the group's Founders Day activity. "I'm really very honored to represent Flint," she said. "I enjoy watching young people get interested in the arts and the symphony and a cultural environment." Read more about it in The Flint News ....... ********** Gamma Delta Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. recently inducted Frances Faithful into the Hall of Living Legends. Started in 2004, the Hall of Living Legends is dedicated to honoring the achievements of legendary women in Flint, Michigan, who have gone beyond the call of duty to make a lasting impact within the Flint community. Frances Faithful was one of two women inducted in 2009. The induction took place on February 7, 2008 at the Flint Public Library.
