Detroit Chapter Supports Noel Night

Each year, the Detroit Chapter of The Pierians, Incorporated presents a dynamic display of the arts in the metropolitan area during the cultural district's annual Noel Night festivities. The evening of events is spearheaded by Pierian Carlotta Tutt-Holloway, Chapter Vice President.

Our artists include the jazz duo of Jon Dixon, piano, and Desean Jones, saxophone. They provide us with songs of the season as well as popular jazz runes to usher in the holiday spirit. We also have the angelic and beautiful sounds of the Achievers Ladies Ensemble of the Detroit School of the Arts. They are superbly conducted by Ms. Connie Malabed, Director and accompanied by Mr. Joseph Rush. A surprise highlight has been the performance of a selection composed by Pierian Sylvia T. Hollifield. The stylistic and incomparable sounds of DJ Lynda Carter brings the audience to their feet as she leads them in an astounding combination of rhythmic body movement and dance to user in the holiday season. The evening ends with a focus on women in design. The artistic display, through the art of sewing and design, is creatively presented by Lynette Halalay. She inspires us with her expertise and artistry as she provides ideas for outfits and tips for the holiday season.

The Detroit Pierians have hosted their Noel Night program at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History since 2013, and we look forward to the upcoming 2017 Noel Night showcase.
